FAQ
Who is the CPAA for?
The CPAA is for any tournament angler that feels there is a need for a high-level, Pro/Am format, multi-day tournament series in Canada. The CPAA is also for any angler that wants to be organized with one voice, when and if the occasion arises to support such a series. The CPAA is for all anglers wanting to be involved in events that will promote themselves and the tournament angler community in a positive and professional manner.
What does the CPAA do?
The CPAA membership participates in events for the betterment of the tournament fishing industry across Canada. Children’s events, community relations building events, fund-raising events for worthy causes, industry events and of course Pro/Am fishing tournaments are included in the list of possible events attended by CPAA members. The CPAA also conducts educational seminars for our members. Furthermore, the CPAA works to provide a unified voice for its members when working in partnership with angler groups, tournament organizers, regulatory bodies and corporations.
Do you consider your members the only true professional anglers in Canada?
Absolutely not. There are many professional anglers and individuals that choose not to be a member of the CPAA. We do not claim a monopoly on professionalism in the angling industry. We do however expect and demand of our members a high level of professionalism.
Do you run a tournament series?
No, we do not run a tournament series. We will however hold an event for our members in the absence of available multi-day Pro/Am opportunities. The CPAA is an angler based organization. Our mandates are for the betterment of the sport as a whole, encompassing all tournament series and circuits as well as all water resource user groups, anglers and fans alike. We do not dictate to tournament organizers. We are available to all interested tournament organizers in an advisory capacity and we are willing to work with any organization in order to ensure professional behaviour at all times by our members towards the organizers, the public and each other.
How can I get involved/help out?
Everyone is welcome to fill out a membership application. Once you are approved as a member of the CPAA, you will be informed of upcoming events and you will be able to volunteer and provide your assistance. We appreciate each and every member.
Why should I join the CPAA?
You should join the CPAA if you want to make a difference. If you see yourself as a person that would like to help make the sport better, then you should join. If you want to improve your level of professionalism on and off the water, you should join. Remember, the CPAA is what the members can make it.
Is the CPAA a club?
No, the CPAA is not a club. We are a formal organization of anglers with a common interest in furthering the sport of competitive fishing in a professional manner.
